We are a hotel and campground, but we’d like to think of ourselves more as a gathering space, a place for people to meet, learn and exchange.
Our Story
The original Sleeping Camel launched in 2009 in Bamako. It’s still there (and we welcome you to visit!), but Mali has sadly become a complicated destination for travel.
We started The Sleeping Camel in Senegal in 2025 as a home base for our scooter tours and a place to once again connect with travelers in the region.
We are all of the following: campground, scoot shack, hotel, (future restaurant and bar), gathering space, workshop, classroom and general purpose living room.
